The amount of generated waste as well as the cost of waste disposal is ever increasing across Europe. Egg producers in particular are facing the problem of disposal of eggshell waste.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>According to EC regulations, industrial egg-shell is considered a hazardous waste that needs to be collected by national authorities. The annual cost of the waste disposal is estimated around 100.000\u20ac in the case of small or medium-sized egg producers.<\/p>\n<p>The main goal of the Shellbrane project is to de\u00advelop a method for the industrial-scale separation of avian eggshell and its membrane. This core process will be fol\u00adlowed by a drying and packaging mech\u00adanism to make the way-to-market easy.
