INNOVA has completed an important analysis and Final Report for a study on ICT for Ageing Scenarios and is currently and actively disseminating these results. The completion of the Scenario Exercise was a major milestone in the EU-funded Value Ageing Project, which aims to support the incorporation of fundamental values in ICT (Information & Communication Technologies) for ageing, while also fostering the cooperation between non-commercial and commercial entities.<\/p>\n

The interesting research results from our Scenario Exercise case study identifies ethical, legal, psychological, social issues or challenges related to specific technology areas in the field of ICT for Ageing, for which these fundamental right considerations are most required, through two main phases: a customized scenario development in the creation of 12 new user-perspective narratives, and scenario analysis and interpretation.<\/p>\n
The scenarios generated in the exercise invoke a natural focus on user interaction by allowing participants to change the focus from themselves to someone else. Also they are used to identify the challenges that could be considered to ensure that ICT does not infringe on elderly people\u2019s autonomy, dignity and other fundamental rights.<\/p>\n
The overall result of the scenario analysis is the identification of adverse effects and to be able to consider and avoid them on both, the level of technology development and the policy level.<\/p>\n
In conclusion, from this research we have developed a set of key recommendations which specifically provide insights and suggestions for new scenario development exercises for ethics in ICT for ageing, improved scenario analysis methods, and guidelines for technology areas and ethical challenges.<\/p>\n
